The Filmmakers
ZAAK ROBICHAUD
Director
- Producer - Writer - Editor
This is Zaak’s first feature film. He has played with video and a variety of software to produce home videos, small projects for work, and a wedding. He hopes that this film will be a springboard to making other films.
Having worked as a youth pastor and as a teacher, he wants to help people realize their identity and to challenge them with natural experiences that will provoke growth. “There are too many artificial learning environments, we need to return to living, breathing moments that can teach us.”
Because of the limited budget and only his spare time to compile the documentation of his and his friends’ journey across Canada, the film had a couple years to mature. “I think the story tells itself very nicely. I didn’t want to force a theme or a point, I wanted to draw those themes out of the bike trip footage and the interviews I conducted. I’m still entranced when I watch the story unfold.”
He has lived in the Marshall Islands, Alberta, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Québec, and now volunteers in Guatemala with his wife and baby boy.
